June 5-7 - 21st Annual Trackcar Meet  - Winnipesaukee Scenic Railroad

Every Summer a group of 50 to 60 owners of former railroad trackcars gather in a spot in the White Mountains called The Hobo Railroad in Lincoln, NH. The railroad is the host for three exciting days with numerous activities but the best one is the ride from Lincoln to Weirs Beach on the Saturday. Then next on Sunday from Tilton, NH to Weirs Beach and return. All together the happy railcar owners are treated to 108 miles of running their own personal trackcar. Trackcars are inspected before the first trip, a safety meeting is attended, the proper rules are given out each year and participants turn in their operating agreements so that they can operate safely on this State of New Hampshire owned track that starts in the White Mountains and ends 12 miles short of the State Capital at Concord, NH.

Forever Plaid
One of the most popular and successful musicals in recent memory, this deliciously goofy revue centers on four young, eager male singers killed in a car crash in the 1950s on the way to their first big concert, and now miraculously revived for the posthumous chance to fulfill their dreams and perform the show that never was. Singing in the closest of harmony, squabbling boyishly over the smallest intonations and executing their charmingly outlandish choreography with over-zealous precision, the “Plaids” are a guaranteed smash!

ENVIRONMENTAL AGRICULTURE FIELD DAY

Over the last four years, the Remick Museum and Farm has instituted new environmental agricultural practices. We have learned many new things and want to share these with the public. If you are a farmer or a land owner and want to learn about the best practices for land use, soil conservation, wetland preservation, or livestock care, this is your opportunity to learn from those with first-hand experience. On June 27, 2009 from 11:00 am to 3:00pm we will host an “environmental agriculture” field day with workshops on grazing and pasture rotation, fence building, soil testing, forestry resources and other related topics.

This program made possible in part from support from the Moose Plate program of the New Hampshire State Conservation Commission, New Hampshire Department of Agriculture and the Natural Resources Conservation Service.

June 30 -July 12    The Summer Theatre - Meredith Village

GREASE!

Here is Rydell High's senior class of 1959; duck-tailed, hot-rodding "Burger Palace Boys" and their gum-snapping, hip-shaking "Pink Ladies" in bobby sox and pedal pushers, evoking the look and sound of the 1950s in this rollicking musical. Head "greaser" Danny Zuko and new (good) girl Sandy Dumbrowski try to relive the high romance of their "Summer Nights" as the rest of the gang sings and dances its way through such songs as Greased Lightnin', It's Raining on Prom Night, Alone at the Drive-In Movie recalling the music of Buddy Holly, Little Richard and Elvis Presley that became the soundtrack of a generation. An 8-year run on Broadway and two subsequent revivals place Grease among the world's most popular musicals.
