Feb 12-14 & 19-21 -  "The LAROMIE Project"

When small town LAROMIE comes face to face with a murder, EVERYONE HAS A TALE TO TELL.  This documentary play is based on 100's of REAL LIFE interviews and reactions to the murder of MATHEW SHEPARD in Laromie, Wyoming.  A chronicle of the events of the night that HATE BECAME A CRIME and the year following the devastating event.

ICE HARVESTING and WINTER CARNIVAL

Remick Museum - Tamworth

Come dressed warm and ready to enjoy a traditional past time in New England History! Try your hand at cutting ice on our own pond, watch steers haul ice by sled to the ice house, view an antique snow roller in action, young children ages 3 to 9 can enjoy dog sled rides pulled by Chinook dogs, compete in the snowball throwing contest or find your way through the snowshoe obstacle course! Hop on a sleigh or wagon ride for a scenic view of the Remick Museum and Farm. Come inside and warm up by the hearth and enjoy home cooked foods from the concession stand: hamburgers, hotdogs, veggie chili, baked beans, brownies, coffee, hot chocolate, tea and water. See exhibits on dog sledding history and watch a demonstration on how they are made!

One of the most exciting forms of motorized entertainment will be featured as New Hampshire Motor Speedway kicks-off its 20th anniversary season with the ultimate "Nor'easter," the inaugural Sno Bowl presented by Ski-Doo on Saturday, February 20 and Sunday, February 21 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. daily.

The snow-covered grounds of the speedway will be transformed into a winter playground for the riders of Rock Maple Racing who will challenge the tough Sno Bowl oval for two straight days.  (More)

Senior Naturalist Dave Erler has been has been banding and monitoring birds at the Science Center’s winter feeders for more than 25 years. Learn why bird banding is an important tool for scientists and enjoy a rare chance to touch and appreciate wild birds up close as you see how birds are banded and help in the process!  Adult must accompany children.

 In 1939, Canada was the oldest Dominion in the British Commonwealth. As a nation, it was, for the most part, reluctant to return to war. Nonetheless, Canadians entered the WWII united with Great Britain. Over the course of the war, 1.1 million Canadians, out of a population of about 11 million, served in the army, navy, and air force. Of these more than 45,000 lost their lives and another 54,000 were wounded. This program will explore the experiences of ordinary soldiers through a discussion of a large display of artifacts
